Itinerary

Day 1: Athens-Nafplion

Depart Athens by the coastal road to the Corinth Canal (short stop). Continue to Mycenae (pre-historic archeological site), visit the Lion’s Gate, the Cyclopean Walls and the Royal Tombs. Proceed to Epidaurus and visit the famous theatre (4TH Century B.C). Continue to Nafplion, the picturesque town crowned by the mighty ramparts of the Palamidi Fortress for an overnight stay. Dinner and overnight at Amfitriti Boutique hotel. D

Day 2: Mystras-Sparti

Depart for Mystras, the ruined medieval citadel high atop Mt Taygetos, a religious shelter during the Byzantine Empire which overlooks Sparti. Visit the inspiring Churches that pose as an example of the Byzantine artwork and architecture. Continue to Sparti where you will have time at leisure to stroll through the picturesque city. Dinner and overnight at Menelaion hotel. BD

Day 3: Gythio-Monemvasia

Drive to Gythio where you will have time at leisure to explore the city. Depart for Monemvasia, the Byzantine fortress, where you will visit the Castle, the Church of the Panaghia and have time to walk the cobblestone streets of the medieval city whilst enjoying the breathtaking view of the Aegean Sea. Overnight at Theophane Hotel in Monemvasia. B

Day 4: Spilea of Dirou

Visit Spilea of Dirou (Discovery of the Caves of Diros). Overnight at Apollo hotel in Spilea. B 

Day 5: Olympia

On your way to OLYMPIA, the cradle of the Olympic games, visit King Nestor’s Palace and the Temple of Epicurean Apollo in Basses. Dinner and overnight at Europa hotel. BD  

Day 6: Olympia-Patras

Visit Olympia, the archeological site, the Sanctuary of the Olympian Zeus and the Museum. If the Museum is closed, the Museum of Olympic Games will be visited instead. Continue to Patras for dinner and overnight at Byzantino hotel. BD

Day 7: Patras

Day at leisure with an optional visit to the Town of Patras (the castle and the Church of St Andrews). Overnight Patras. BD  

Day 8: Gorge of Vouraikos-Athens

Drive to Diakofto, where you will take the famous Odontotos Train through the Gorge of Vouraikos. This traditional funicular train travels through the natural scenic beauty of the Gorge. Travel past Zachlorou, a picturesque village in the centre of the Gorge on the way to Kalavrita, a mountain village which was one of the places where the Greek revolution was born. Join the coach in town where you will have some time at leisure before returning to Athens early evening. B
