Itinerary

Day 1: Kathmandu

On arrival at Kathmandu Airport you will be met with a floral welcome and then transferred to your hotel.

Day 2: Kathmandu

This morning you will enjoy a city tour of Kathmandu and then visit Swayambhunath, one of the oldest Buddhist stupas overlooking the entire Kathmandu Valley. In the afternoon, you will visit Hindu Temples and other impressive sites in Pashupatinath, Boudhanath and Bhadgaon. B

Day 3: Kathmandu – Paro

This morning, enjoy the scenic flight to Paro over the great Himalayas. As you fly over the Paro Valley you will see the silvery Paro Chhu (Paro River) meandering down the valley. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Overnight at Amankora Paro.

Day 4: Paro – Thimpu

Your morning guided tour includes a visit to Ta Dzong, a watchtower which has been converted into a national Museum, followed by a visit to the 17th century Rinpung Dzong. This afternoon you will be driven to the capital city of Thimpu (2 hrs). In Thimpu, you will visit Trashichhodzong the ‘Fortress of the Glorious Religions’, initially erected in 1641. Later visit the Memorial Chorten, a beautiful shrine built in memory of Bhutan’s third king, housing amazing paintings and statues. Overnight at Amankora Thimpu.

Day 5: Thimpu – Punakha

Today you will visit the other major sites of Thimpu including the National Library, the textile museum and Folk Heritage Museum. During the afternoon, enjoy the scenic drive to Punakha (3 hrs), the capital of Bhutan until 1955. A guided tour of Punakha includes a visit to the 17th century Punakha Dzong, a massive structure built at the junction of two rivers. Overnight at Amankora Punakha.

Day 6: Punakha – Bhumthang

Drive to Bumthang this morning (7 hrs) across the Pele la Pass, the traditional boundary between east and west. En route, visit Chendbji Chorten, designed on a Nepalese temple, Stop for lunch at Trongsa and visit the Trongsa Dzong, an impregnable fortress built in 1647. Continue your drive to Bumthang through coniferous forest into a wild cultivated valley known as the Chumey Valley. Overnight at Amankora Bumthang.

Day 7: Bumthang – Gangtey

Bumthang, combining four valleys – the Chumey, the Choekhor, the Tang and the Ura, is home to many prominent Buddhist temples and Monasteries. You will visit the Kurje Lhakhang, where the saint Padmasambhava subdued a local demon and left his body imprint on a rock; and the 7th century Jambey Lhakhang temple. During the afternoon drive to Gangtey (7 hrs). Overnight at Amankora Gangtey.

Day 8: Gangtey – Paro

This morning you will visit the 17th century Gangtey Monastery which lies in the beautiful Phobjikha Valley. Later drive to Paro (7 hrs). Overnight at Amankora Paro.

Day 9: Paro – Kolkota

Fly to Kolkota. In the afternoon your guided sightseeing will include the major sites of Kolkota.

Day 10: Depart Kolkota

Free day for shopping. This evening you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home.
