Day 1: Yangon

Your guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel to embark on this half day of sightseeing. First we’ll visit Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda, home to a 70-meter long reclining Buddha. A visit to Kyaukhtatgyi provides a great overview of Buddhism with murals depicting the life of Buddha, the feet of the statue carved with traditional symbols and often many locals gathering to pay homage and pray.

Continue to a local tea shop for a chance to experience an integral part of Burmese life: drinking tea! Select from an array of snacks and enjoy a coffee or tea as you sit amid businessmen, friends and families who gather at the tea shop to socialize or conduct business.

Next your guided tour goes to Kandawagyi Park, one of central Yangon’s greenest spots. Here you will see the glittering Karaweik barge, a replica of the royal barge, and the vast lake with views of Shwedagon in the background. Depending on the day of your visit Kandawgyi may be busy with local families who come here on the weekend to relax in the fresh air.

From here, continue to Shwedagon Pagoda the most revered Buddhist temple in Myanmar. Although the origins of the pagoda are unclear, it is believed that the original structure was built in the 11th century then renovated several times until taking its current shape in the 15th century. The central stupa is 99 meters tall and gilded with gold leaf and is surrounded by 64 smaller stupas and your guide will show you around the massive complex, explaining why this temple is so revered. Enjoy breathtaking views of the golden stupa and the city skyline from this vantage point. Overnight in Yangon.

Day 2: Yangon-Kawthaung
This morning transfer to the Yangon airport for the domestic flight to Kawthaung.

The remainder of the day is at your leisure to relax and enjoy the tranquil rhythms of this sleepy fishing town. There are several small temples and a local market to explore in the town centre or just find a teashop and watch the goings on at the waterfront. Overnight in Kawthaung. B

Day 3: Kawthaung-Myauk Phyu Island

After breakfast, you will be picked up by a representative from the cruise company and transferred to the jetty to start your four night cruise. Your boat is waiting- a specially designed sail boat with 3 air-conditioned cabins and plenty of deck space for relaxing and enjoying the scenic cruise.

After immigration clearance, depart from Kawthaung Port to Myauk Phyu Island (Cruising time: Approx. 4 hours). Enjoy the lunch on board as you glide across the pristine seas. Upon arrival, go for a swim or simply relax and enjoy. Return to the boat for dinner. Overnight onboard near the island. BLD

Day 4: Myauk Phyu-Macleod Island

This morning the boat will stay around Myauk Phyu while you swim, snorkel and kayak around the island. Then the boat will resume its journey through the Myeik Archipelago making its way to Macleod Island. Relax on deck, watching the spectacular scenery pass by. Enjoy the lunch onboard

Upon reaching Macleod Island, go ashore to explore the white sandy beaches and spend time snorkeling and kayaking around the island. Macleod Island is known for its beautiful coral reefs and thick tropical rain forest filled with exotic bird species. It is also famous for its fresh seafood with the country’s best lobster, squid and crabs coming from this area. Dinner is served onboard. Overnight onboard near Macleod Island. BLD

Day 5: Macleod Island-Say Tan (Dunkin) Island

Today begins with a spectacular sailing trip to Say Tan Island. Say Tan is a small but vastly diverse island with a white sandy beach on the western side and a lush, forest interior. Overnight onboard. BLD

Day 6: Say Tan-Kyet Mauk (Cocks & Combe)

After breakfast the boat sets off sailing to Kyet Mauk Island, also known as Cocks & Combe.

Today the boat will make its way back to Kawthaung, taking around 5 hours. Along the way we’ll make one more stop at Myin Khwar Island, 22 miles southwest of Kawthaung. The land is very rocky and you can visit one of the biggest bird’s nest caves in the world. Upon arrival at Kawthaung Jetty this afternoon, you will be welcomed by our local representative to assist smooth running procedure at immigration check point. Then transfer to your hotel for a relaxing evening. Overnight in Kawthaung. BL
