From the heart of modern India at New Delhi to the sweeping ghats of the holy city of Varanasi; from the urban jungle that is Mumbai to the dense natural wilderness of Ranthambore. The magnificent sweep of this itinerary covers the classic cities of North India. – Varanasi and Khajuraho, besides giving you a glimpse of Rajasthan, the Taj Mahal and one of the country’s leading wildlife sanctuaries.
Day 1 : Delhi
Reception and welcome at Delhi airport followed by transfer to your hotel
Day 2 : Delhi
A tour this morning introduces you to the city of New and Old Delhi. Drive through the colonial heritage of Lutyen’s and on to a closer look at the Qutab Minar and the Humayun Tomb. B
Day 3 : Delhi – Varanasi
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Varanasi, one of Hinduism’s seven holiest cities. This afternoon travel to Sarnath, where Buddha gave his first sermon after attaining enlightenment. At sunset witness the Aarti ceremony at the Ghats – a beautiful ceremony in which prayers and diyas (oil lamps) are offered to God. B
Day 4 : Varanasi – Khajuraho
Morning boat ride on river Ganges followed by a walk in the old lanes and a city tour. Afternoon flight to Khajuraho, famed for its temples and erotic sculptures. B
Day 5 : Khajuraho – Agra
This morning visit the magnificent carved temples of Khajuraho. Later drive to Jhansi station en route visit Orcha (4 hrs) to connect with the train to Agra where you will spend the next two nights. B
Day 6 : Agra
Early morning start with a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal. After breakfast visit some of Agra’s other major sights including the Red fort and Itmad – Ud – Daulah. B
Day 7 : Agra – Ranthambore
After a leisurely breakfast transfer to Bharatpur railway station stopping en route exploring the deserted town of Fatehpur Sikri (2 hrs) for the train journey through delightful scenery to Ranthambore National Park the former hunting ground of the Maharajas of Jaipur. B
Day 8 : Ranthambore
Today you will enjoy morning and afternoon game drives to search for the elusive Bengal Tigers and view the varied wildlife of the national park. B
Day 9 : Ranthambore -Jaipur 200kms – 4 hrs
Morning game drive, later drive to the Pink City of Jaipur. Rest of the day at leisure.
Day 10 : Jaipur
Today enjoy a guided tour of Jaipur visiting sights such as the Amber Fort, City Palace and the Royal Observatory, which are just some of the sights you will see today.
Day 11 : Jaipur – Udaipur
From Jaipur you will be transferred to Udaipur. Evening enjoy a boat ride on Lake Pichola. B
Day 12 : Udaipur
Morning guided sightseeing of Udaipur visiting sights such as the City Place and Jagdish Temple. Afternoon at leisure to explore on your own. B
Day 13 : Udaipur – Mumbai
Morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Mumbai. On arrival transfer to your hotel. This afternoon enjoy a guided sightseeing of the cosmopolitan city of Mumbai. B
Day 14 : Depart Mumbai
Transfer to the airport for your return flight home. B
